Whole Brain Teaching ROAD TRIP!!!

Happy Saturday!

I have been up bright and early since about 7 a.m. I never sleep in anymore. I'm so used to getting up early for the gym Monday through Friday that I just cant sleep in on Saturdays. I never used to be a morning person! Now, I don't mind because I feel like I can get so much more done, even if that means blog stalking! :)

On Monday, three sweet friends and I are leaving for Union, MO for THE WHOLE BRAIN TEACHING WORKSHOP! I am so so so so so excited! I get to spend time with three amazing girls and I get to fill my brain with whole brain teaching beauty! How many of you use whole brain teaching in your classroom? This is going to be my first year and I can't wait. Our school is big on Kagan Cooperative Learning Strategies
( more about that in a later post!) and I feel like whole brain teaching fits in really well with that! One of my strengths as a teacher is classroom management so I am beyond excited to learn some more classroom management techniques.
When I first saw this whole brain teaching video on you tube, I was almost in tears! It was so awesome to see how engaged those kids were! If you haven't seen it, please watch it! It will really motivate you!

This workshop is TOTALLY FREE. Can you believe it! There are going to be over 600 participants!

This is going to be some road trip. It takes about 5 1/2 hours to get to Missouri from Illinois. I am going with 2 of my first grade teammates and a third grade teacher friend also from our building. We all are really close and we all hang out all the time. I have one more teammate who can't make it with us and we are so sad! :( It is okay though because we will be sharing with her everything we learned!

I'm also very excited to have some girl time! I love my boyfriend and all but sometimes I just need to be with my girls!! :)

I am a little sad....I know I will only be gone for 2 days, but I am really going to miss this cutie:

I. LOVE. HER.

Have a fantastic Saturday! I have some friends from Michigan coming in soon. My BF and I are going to show them around the city! First stop: TASTE OF CHICAGO!!!!

I am going to incorporate WBT strategies in my room this year, and, yep...that's the video that sucked me in! :) I would LOVE to go to one of their workshops but they don't have any scheduled for down here (the south). :( Be sure to post all about it for us!! It is so hard to leave those furry babies behind!

  4. Your WBT road trip sounds like so much fun. I went to a workshop last year and it was amazing. I haven't incorporated everything into my classroom yet but the things I do have been very effective. Welcome to blogland. . .I'm looking forward to some more great posts.
